I'm Doing It!

I have discovered that I have a horrible tendency to drink waaaaay too much soda, so as of midnight last night, I'm attempting to not have much (none, unless I forget and take a drink of someone else's) until Saturday at noon or later. :) I dedicate this "diet" to Erin, who convinced me once not to have soda for breakfast anymore. ;) I really shouldn't be online right now, but I wanted to put a John-inspired poem on here and see what you think.

In Your Eyes
I like who I am in your eyes.
I'm not just my past.
I'm not just your future.
I'm not striving to be someone I can't.
I'm loved no matter what I do,
Or who I hurt,
Or how I've been hurt.
I'm not part of a project you've been working on.
I'm half of "us".
I like who I am in your eyes.
I'm a gift from God to you.
I'm valued.
I'm treasured.
I'm full of love and joy
And hope.
I'm yours and yours alone.
I'm the love of your live.
I'm open, honest, and rarely scared.
I'm vulnerable: in need of protection
From the world around me.
I like who I am in your eyes.
I'm yours eternally,
For the rest of our lives and beyond.
I'm one of the stars in the sky.
I'm a danceer in our dreams
And the desire of your heart.
But more than anything else,
In your eyes,
I'm me.


I know it's not the best poem I've ever written, but it suited my mood at the time and it's straight from my heart. I'll try to not take quite so long to post again, and happy birthday to my mom yesterday! Don't worry--she's not 50 yet!!! :)
